In their latest Scientific Report – Enduring voice recognition in bonobos – visiting professor Nicolas Mathevon and his colleagues demonstrate that bonobos recognize the call of former social partners with whom they have had no contact for several years.

Former ABC student and current PhD student (at UMass Amherst), Amy Ryan published her ABC master's thesis in Zoo Biology with Director Mark Hauber: Group compositional changes impact the social and feeding behaviors of captive hamadryas baboons (Papio hamadryas hamadryas)
On Sunday, May 15, ABC students, faculty, and alumni will gather at Black Rock Forest for a day of field and lab experiences: presentations, walks, bird banding, and more! http://blackrockforest.org/ is an easy drive from NYC--and we will be arranging transport. Details to come, please save the date!
Dr. Sarah Brosnan, Georgia State University, will give a talk entitled: "The Evolution of (in)Equality and Cooperation in Primate Societies" on Wednesday, March 2, at 7:30 pm in Hunter North 612 (the psychology seminar room). You learn more about the work of Dr. Brosnan and Franz de Waal here: How We Learn Fairness. ABC Alumnae will also present on the feeding ecology of howler monkeys and the social behaviors of captive hamadryas baboons.

Nature's Palette: Dr. Mark Hauber and Hunter Collaborators from Chemistry have published a new paper about the shared pigmentation of colorful mollusk and bird egg shells.
Join us for a special event on Dog Cognition and Behavior on Thursday, December 10 at 5:30 pm in Hunter North 612 (the psychology seminar room). Dr. David Reby of the University of Sussex will speak on How Dogs Hear Us: Orienting Biases to Speech Components and Voice Gender Discrimination. ABC alumni will also present on stress in therapy dogs, using border collies to manage Canada geese, and dog training in the social media. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
